SAbF is located in Guwahati, Assam, India. It is a local non-profit trade association that provides services on bamboo and its production related knowledge and technology, talent training and environmental infrastructure. It also applies materials of native bamboo species from southern Asia to help improve people’s life in rural farming areas, using bamboo to build houses and toilets, etc. in particular. CCU explained that bamboo is a type of green building material that is fairly environmental-friendly and easy to obtain, as a result, many developing countries see Bamboo as a low-cost alternative material for construction. SAbF has successfully established the bamboo construction technology for housing and has been continuously promoting it throughout India.

The National Chung Cheng University (CCU) as a higher education entity and the sounding member of the society, for the past three years, has been taking its role seriously to execute its Bamboo industry relevant University Social Responsibility (USR) projects carefully, on the aspects of the technology, culture, education and marketing to help local bamboo trade. More, not only has it joined the World Bamboo Organization (WBO), but also lately signed a cooperation agreement with Indian organization the “South Asia Bamboo Foundation (SABF)”. CCU aims to upgrade and promote local bamboo business, through the international exchange and talent cultivation cooperative programs, in the hope to gradually open up a wider international market for Taiwan’s bamboo industry.

National Institute of Design (NID) is internationally acclaimed as one of the foremost multi-disciplinary Institutions in the field of design education, research, training and services. The Institute functions as a statutory body under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. NID has been declared as an “Institution of National Importance” by an Act of Parliament, Government of India in the year 2014.

NID’s Centre for Bamboo Initiatives (CFBI) has been set up at various campuses for activities related to Bamboo based research, design, technical development and training. This is a platform for faculty members, students and designers for innovation, experiment and building new resources for the bamboo sectors in India and abroad. CFBI also supports entrepreneurs with various knowledge and connects various stakeholders for building up bamboo based ecosystems to popularize its applications.
